Dear Femmss Folks,
We are sad to say that we will need to postpone FEMMSS 8. We’ve been looking into possibilities for moving our event online, but lack the financial, technological, and human resources, as well as the internal fortitude to make it happen this year.
We will be putting together an online list of submissions that we have accepted for FEMMSS 8 to make it easier for folks to add their FEMMSS 8 acceptance to their vitas. Those who submitted work will hear shortly about the outcome of the review process.
What does postponement mean? The thing we can say with certainty is that there will not be a conference, face-to-face, virtual, or mixed in 2020. We are not sure if we will try to have the conference next year, or if we will have a four-year gap. Or if we will try alternative ways of sharing our scholarship and building our community. We will start a discussion about this with the steering committee and will ask for suggestions and concerns from our listserv early this fall.
We want to extend our thanks to everyone who submitted their work to FEMMSS 8, to the Program Committee for working so hard to craft the call and review more than 100 submissions, and I, Carla, am very grateful to Cate Hundleby for managing the submission and review process.
Sincerely,
Carla Fehr and Catherine Hundleby
